LCSW/RPT/Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Registered Play Therapist

How does trauma affect the whole person: brain, body, emotional experiences, and worldview? This is the question that guides my practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and play therapist.

My Background

Before I became an LCSW and Registered Play Therapist, I worked with individuals in many different capacities, including living in Thailand and working with children and adult victims of sex trafficking, directing the children’s programs at a non-profit in Waco, TX, teaching middle school history, and helping young children heal from family and community violence in a therapeutic nurture center. I kept seeing trauma and the impacts of trauma on those I worked with. Eventually, I decided the best way for me to make an impact on people’s healing journey was to obtain and develop specific clinical skills.  I became an LCSW and Registered Play Therapist and focused my practice on trauma work. I understand how trauma affects the whole person: brain, body, emotions, and worldview. I am certified in Adoption Competent Therapy and TF-CBT; and I am trained in Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Attachment-Focused Trauma Therapy, as well as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.

How I Can Help You

When we work together, we will identify how trauma has impacted your life. We will work to understand how your brain has interpreted traumatic experiences and how your inner child is currently triggered by those experiences. We may use a combination of modalities, including EMDR, inner-resource strengthening, and Attachment Focused Trauma Therapy. With children, we will utilize the evidenced-based practice of Play Therapy along with EMDR Therapy. Ultimately, I will help you get to a place where you feel safe, calm, and regulated so you can tap into the existing competent person you are. I believe you have everything inside of you that you need to heal. My job is to help bring those parts out and strengthen them.
